An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Art teacher to join an innovative and forward thinking school. The successful candidate will teach across the ability range to both KS3 and KS4 and there may be the opportunity to teach Post 16 students. If you are committed to raising attainment and helping every child to achieve we would like to hear from you.
After much deliberation I have made the decision to retire from my post as Headteacher of Hyde Community College. This has not been an easy decision to make but it is the right one. I will retire at the end of August after more than twelve years as Head and feel it is right to let you know now.
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to lead such fantastic students, amazing staff and supportive governors. It remains an honour to have been chosen as Head all those years ago. It is now the responsibility of the Governing Body to appoint a new Headteacher for September 2014. Hyde is a wonderful school and my successor will be very fortunate to inherit it.
Having made the decision I will not be putting my feet up and having an easy time!! It is business as usual and until the 31st August I will be carrying out my role and responsibilities as normal. I would like to thanks you for your support over the years.
Denise Spence - Headteacher

In the lead up to Friday 7th February, students and staff were donating money for 'bobbles' to wear in aid of AgeUK. With every bobble that was purchased, students and staff could vote for which members of staff they would like to see wear fancy dress for school on Friday 7th February.
Students and staff raised a fantastic £312.23 for the charity and the members of staff voted for fancy dress were: Mr. Johnson, Mr. Brogan, Mr. Joshi, Mrs. Lever & Mr. Gilday.

Our school's contribution to World Languages' Week in September 2013 was a video, made to display the diversity of languages spoken in our school. We speak over 20 languages between staff and pupils. We have also managed to take this diversity national, by contributing to a video assignment written for The Guardian Witness, named "How Many Languages Do You Speak?". This could potentially be used as part of a Guardian exhibition later this year in London. Watch the video below:
Year 9 students have been given a KS4 Information Booklet containing information regarding courses for their next two years. There is also a sheet outlining the subject choices for next year. This sheet is to be returned to school by Friday, 7th March 2014. More information can be found in the Parents section of the website.
The booklet can be viewed below (Click for full screen version and to download):
